Letter From Our Founder
Dear Sister, Supporter, and Friend,
Black Girls Can Heal was born long before it ever had a name.
It grew out of years of carrying emotional burdens in silence—out of cycles of shame, guilt, people-pleasing, and the heavy responsibility of being “the strong one.” It grew out of trying to hold everyone else together while quietly unraveling inside. And it grew out of my own journey back to God, where I learned that survival is not the same as healing, and strength should not require self-abandonment.
As I began doing the hard, holy work of healing, God showed me something I could no longer ignore: There are countless Black women with stories just like mine—women overextended, overlooked, and overwhelmed, yet still expected to show up strong.
But where were the spaces for us to rest?
To be honest?
To be supported?
To be seen and held with tenderness?
Where were the places that honored our faith, our culture, our lived experiences, and our emotional realities?
I didn’t see many.
So God called me to build one.
Black Girls Can Heal exists because Black women deserve more than survival.
We deserve healing, softness, safety, truth, and community.
We deserve to understand who we are in Christ—not who life has forced us to be.
We deserve spaces where our identity is restored, our burdens are acknowledged, and our healing is prioritized.
This organization is not just a program, a curriculum, or an event. It is a movement of women deciding that healing is not optional—it is necessary. It is necessary for us, for our families, and for the generations coming after us.
My prayer is that every woman who walks through our doors—physically or virtually—feels God’s love, encounters His truth, and experiences the beginning (or deepening) of her healing journey.
And to every supporter, volunteer, donor, and partner: thank you. Your belief in this mission helps us create life-changing spaces for women who desperately need them. Your support makes healing accessible. Your generosity expands our reach. Your partnership makes a difference far beyond what you can see.
Black Girls Can Heal is bigger than me—it is God’s work in the lives of His daughters. Thank you for being part of this story.
With love, gratitude, and commitment,
Ja’Quasia
